Kid Kyoto

I recently celebrated my birthday at Kid Kyoto, and when making the reservation, I mentioned it was for my birthday. My family and I visited during lunchtime, and although the restaurant is tucked away in an alley, we easily found it using Google Maps. The atmosphere was great, and they were incredibly kind and welcoming to my child. I wanted to try some fusion cuisine, and this place did not disappoint. Every dish we had was delicious, and while we couldn’t try everything, what we did have was exceptional. To top it off, they surprised me with an impromptu birthday celebration, which was truly touching. I’m already planning to return with friends. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Interesting dining experience on something like fusion Japanese food.

We opted for the express lunch as the first try.

Some of the dishes are very creative. Without looking at the menu beforehand it would be hard to believe the contents. They are mostly quite delicious and surprisingly fulfilling.

The staff are very attractive and informative. The atmosphere is quite relaxing for lunch, not sure about dinner.

Busy business lunch this time and we went for the Classic set menu at $75pp to save time deciding. Noisy and bustling with bare walls echoing that made it tricky for serious conversation. Our misplay there but need to come back when not for business.

Food quality was delightfully modern and intriguing to the taste buds. Probably not enough in serving portions to stave off hunger but acceptable for a business meal.

Watermelon sashimi, corn ribs were conversation stopping starters and the fried rice matched the pork main well. the weak link in the menu was the duck tsukune (skewer) which didn't showcase either chef skill nor the produce. Bland and mushy.

We appreciated being given the White chocolate purin and rhubarb sorbet dessert and it was a sweet finish to make the meal memorable.

Got the deluxe set menu for 89 pp. Food came out pretty quickly and the portion sizes are decent. Wasn't full, but I was satisfied. Highlights were the CRACKED corn ribs, the scallops were scrumptious and the skewer was melting in my mouth like butter on the pavement. The chicken sauce was nice but not too special. The watermelon sashimi was hit or miss, depending on the person. Overall, pretty good set menu but not the best I've had.

The food at Kid Kyoto was outstanding. The menu offered a modern twist on traditional Japanese cuisine, with bold flavors and creative presentations. The dishes were beautifully plated and tasted absolutely delicious. I especially enjoyed the watermelon sashimi - they were both flavorful and cooked to perfection.The music is a little loud which can make it difficult to have a conversation! Wouldn’t recommend a first date here.
