A restaurant's main focal point should be the food, but the food here was disappointing. The dishes themselves are well prepared for the most part (meats are juicy and tender), but the flavours are too bold for my preference... far too overwhelming. Whoever added the sauces/seasonings doused the dishes like they were trying to put out a fire.
One could argue it has its own charm, and that I agree: to each their own. if you're looking for a unique experience and unexpected twists, this restaurant will surprise you with every dish. e.g. the watermelon sashimi had an interesting texture, but I would not come back here again.
I will additionally note that I was surprised by the use of real candles around the restaurant. It helped with the moody ambience, however, another customer knocked the lit candle off our table. The hot wax splashed on my fiance's ankle, and the nearby waitstaff just lit it back up and put it on our table again. There's just not enough space for lady, her bag and winter coat to pass between the tables, but the lack of acknowledgment from the staff was upsetting.

I hate to give this place a bad score because overall it's actually a good experience. The ambience is amazing, with artful neon and LED lighting and a modern punk-art aesthetic kinda thing going on.

The seating is spacious and comfortable and the service is very attentive and helpful. They really do go above and beyond to cater your dining experience to perfection. Regularly filling water and changing plates and cutlery and tending to what we might need, it was impeccable service.

Me and my companions had the 'Trust Us' experience where they bring you out a lot of the menu items across a few courses I guess I would call it. I picked the vegetarian option which was great that it was offered.

This is where I get a bit lost. The food is ... not for me. I love Japanese food but I'm a bit lost with what we are being served at this place. I don't know if I'm the right target audience for this kind of food...or if it's just not good.

Everything was overly salty and sickly sweet yet somehow simultaneously bland and unsatisfying. Most food items are served cold and soggy and are just unappealing to me.

My companions were equally unimpressed with their food. At this price point and the small serving sizes you get, you would at least expect to receive yummy delicious good food. But for us today what we experienced was just overly expensive, overly produced, salty sickly sweet tiny serving sizes of unimpressive food.

I really do hate to give a low rating because everything is amazing at this restaurant...except for the fact we didn't like the food at all.

This is not your typical izakaya — it’s bold, creative, and full of energy. The restaurant brings a rebellious twist to modern Japanese cuisine, turning up the heat in the most exciting way.
The atmosphere is amazing — stylish yet relaxed — and every dish on the menu feels like a surprise. If you’re looking for a Japanese dining experience that breaks the mold, this place delivers.

This is one of my favourite places to go to when I’m in the city. I don’t think you will find place like this in Sydney where japanese food is mixed with some good old punk music hits. Food is delicious, ambience is great and service is always good. Some of our favourites are Pork gyoza spring rolls, corn ribs, Duck tsukune are must have as well as fried rice. They have long list of sakes, wines etc, but my favourite is non alcoholic cocktail Pinkin Park.

The atmosphere and service was good. Staff was attentive to our needs. The dishes were a bit average in my opinion. Did not hit the mark unfortunately, although the food was fresh. There are so many options in Sydney and just felt the menu was a let down.
