East Coast Car Rentals - Sydney Airport

This was my second time using East Coast. Both times I completed my rental without issue. Collection and return was simple and importanlty- I didn't have to wait around. The car was very clean and all worked as expected. The shuttle back to the airport was a HUGH benefit and the driver was super friendly and chatty.... a big shout-out to him. Yes! I most certainly will book again next year. Thanks team.

Rented a Land Rover Defender, and wow—pristine condition. This car hasn’t seen a single grain of dirt, let alone “defended” anything. It’s the kind of Defender that would politely decline a puddle. Fancy, yes. Rugged? Not even in its wildest dreams.

The car itself? Lovely. Comfortable for five people and their mountain of luggage. Perfect for cruising the Sydney coastline in style. But here’s the kicker: the engine drinks fuel like it’s trying to win a Guinness World Record for thirstiest vehicle. Prepare your wallet accordingly.

Now, let’s talk about the rental experience:
•	Premium rates, premium… rules. I asked to return the car just one hour later, and they charged me half a day’s rate. Half. A. Day. For one hour. I didn’t know I rented a diva on wheels.
•	Off-site location. Why is it slightly cheaper than Sixt, Hertz, or Enterprise? Because you’ll need a shuttle to get there, and they’re not exactly waiting for you like a chauffeur. You have to schedule the shuttle, which adds a sprinkle of “logistical fun” to your trip.
•	Mind the hours. Once the rental office closes, you’re on your own. No shuttles, no drop-offs. Just you and your creative problem-solving skills trying to find a way back. My advice? Return the car during daylight hours—or be ready to channel your inner Bear Grylls navigating Sydney’s public transport.

Final Tip: Great for road trips with friends, lots of luggage, and a decent chunk of cash to spare. Just don’t expect flexibility or off-road ruggedness from this Defender. It’s more runway model than mud wrestler.

We have been renting a Polestar 2 for two weeks in February. It was our first EV experience ever and we decided to try. Everything went smoothly and we made over 5k km in two weeks. The car has everything you need for a comfortable drive. It was easy to find a charging station with Plugshare. Chargefox and Tesla's Supercharger are the most used chargers during our trip. If you have always wanted to try driving EVs not just in the city but for the long run, this is the right place to start. I definitely will rent here again.

I came to Sydney for a 4 day trip from Adelaide, and I decided to hire a car through East Coast Car Rentals for the 2nd time after I was happy with renting a car through them when I went to The Gold Coast back in September… and low and behold, was given an MG car for the 2nd time, which brang back memories from the 1st time, especially since it was the same model, colour, etc.

Very well priced, affordable, and 0 hassles… especially when the $0 excess fee is paid to cover all costs, etc.

The staff were very friendly and thorough with any questions and enquires.

And they’ll give you a free shuttle bus ride, which is excellent.

Will definitely be using East Coast Car Rentals on future trips to Sydney.

We came to Sydney for holiday from Auckland. We got a mostly brand new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, and driving that car is absolutely comfortable and safe. Team members are extremely helpful and friendly, everything goes smoothly and very happy customer. I would like to recommend this car rental company to all kiwis. Good job.
